Savannah River Ecology Lab (SREL) and the Gopher Tortoise
Council (GTC) will be hosting the annual GTC meeting and a
special workshop on upland snakes on 20-22 October 2000. Both
events will be held at the SREL Conference Center near New
Ellenton, South Carolina.
On Friday 20 October, there will be a workshop on the
Conservation and Management of Upland Snakes, which will focus
on the species of xeric upland habitats in the southeastern
Coastal Plain. The workshop will be followed by a dinner social
with live music.
Saturday 21 October will feature the annual Gopher Tortoise
Council meeting. Our theme for this year is "Conservation Issues
and Species at Risk in the Southeastern Coastal Plain."
Also featured during the weekend will be a silent auction, three
optional field trips, and several business meetings. More

Pre-registration ends on 6 October. Pre-registration is
required to guarantee meals.
