I have two adult (Male/female) redtails, have had a sucessful breeding two years ago, produced 30 live young, all survived, and she produced NO slugs! I have kept from breeding again, as I have no place to keep that many young, or a means to sell them all off. I kept two of the young, both are active, and feed well, and have already reached 4+feet; at birth were around 16 inches.
I;ve had the adults for a few years, but it is getting difficult to manage handling them as much as they need, and I'm getting ready to be a father. ( my childs mother is nervous about a baby around such large snakes) both measure around 9 feet, feedings have been exclusively rabbits for over two years. female ate 13 rabbits last year, male, ate 9, at around 2.5 pounds. I have an oak cage which measures 2D X 2.5H X 4W
with a glass front and bottom, also has built in undercage heaters, and a 6 inch heat "rise" to keep the bottom glass off the floor. basically, I built the bottom glass to be risen off the bottom of the cage. screen top, secured by screws. both are even tempered, though the female can be fiesty at times, especially during feedings. asking $800 for all, Will sell snakes seperate from cage, but I WILL NOT seperate the sankes, they have been lifelong mates. email me at mattblough78@aol.com to discuss possible sale.
