I agree with Karl, I've looked at some atrox bites and have decided not to get one for a very long time.
thanks for the false water info guys. and the only reason I said phill was mean was cuzz he implied I didn't know crap. thats just not a nice thing to say.

Holy crap! you`re holding a gila monster in your hand. I envy you for that. Don`t take for granted what you allready have. Please, don`t get a cobra for another 4 years or more. Get a copperhead, use the proper tools to handle it. You will be ok then. Good Luck.

Oh by the way Jason I was not inteding you didn't know crap but what I did mean is if you got a cobra you don't know crap and you a complete moron. My mother know a lot about venomous snakes and has handled copperheads. So when I do get one I can use her help. Also I would never do any work on his cage unless she was home because I can't drive yet. Cobras deffinatly cause necrosis. Some a lot worse than crotalids. I would pick a moccasin or a rattler anyday over a cobra. At least I know the hopistal near me has antivenom.

I dont think hes getting a cobra. I think he just posted this to make him seem like he knows what hes talking about. You have them in a barn??? The cobra in the barn....Thats funny. Imagine actually getting bit while in the barn and then you would be like, oh god, what do I do. I know for a fact the the nearest hospital doesnt have antivenom. And I sure as hell dont. Mom, Dad I got bit by the cobra you let me keep. The the next thing you know:News flash::Exotic hots are now illegal to keep even with a permit, because some young kid got bitten while playing with deadly cobra: Detective Johnny B. Badd who was on the scene replied:"you know, weve been trying to shut down on the venomous animal industry for years, this just goes to show why we shouldnt have venomous snakes around any home" Roger Beltsack who is a close neighbor also replied, "I knew spankey, he was a good kid, Now hes dead, If I ever see a snake again I will kill it. I dont see why his parents even let him own a snake that young, When I was that age back in 67 I was begging for a red bone coon dog."

HOMESTEAD, Fla. -- A Homestead teenager's future is uncertain today
after a being bitten by a cobra that is so rare that no anti-venin is
available.
An entire room in this house is dedicated to reptiles.
"I've called five of the top experts worldwide and even though the
venom unit has dealt with over 750 snakebites, this is the first one
possibly in existence in this country," said Miami-Dade firefighter Al Cruz,
who runs the county's venom unit.
Investigators say the rare coral cobra bit the teen as she slept in
her Homestead home. The 14-year-old's stepfather, Bill Stifler, is an
employee of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and also
works professionally showing snakes. An entire room in their house is
dedicated to reptiles. At this point, it's not known how the snake got out
of the room to bite the sleeping teen.
The teen's prognosis is somewhat uncertain. Doctors at Miami
Children's Hospital are monitoring her.
"You're dealing with a situation that time will tell what the
resolution will be," Cruz said.
Coral cobras typically live in the southwestern regions of Africa.
Very little is known about its venom, but the snake's bite is not thought to
be as toxic as other cobras.
