i'm very interested in a career in herpetology, i am currently working on getting my bachelors degree in biology then i am going to specialize in herpetolog. If anyone knows some annual pay ranges on different career opportunities please let me know. Also i am very interested in milking snakes and selling the venom for the use in making antivenom, would this be a very rewarding job?

Dylan:
People go into Herpetology because they love the field not that they find the pay rewarding. Ask any Zoo keeper or State wildlife employee.
As for "Milking Snakes" for profit. You should do your Masters in Biochemistry/Pharmacology. They are two fields that will qualify you to work in this area. The money is in purified fractions of the venom. Requiring lots of expensive equipment and the expertize to operate it. However, this is pretty much a closed industry with only a few labs certified to provide venom for medicine & research. FDA, USDA and CITES oversight in this industry is very intense, best to try something else as a career.
Good Luck,

It is very hard to get biology jobs with just a bachelor's degree. There just isn't much funding for biologists. There are jobs out there but few are probably what you are looking for. There is almost no jobs asking for herpetologists. It is too broad of a field. You have to narrow your expertise a bit.
Hope these topics help. Good luck

I would say the one with the most pay would be a profesor. YOu get funding to do studies while school is out. I am thinking that is what I will probaly do.

On your profile it says you want to work in zoos. Either way a Ph.D will certainly get you either place, though I doubt you'll need a Ph.D for the zoo job. Some zoos have Ph.Ds but it depends on the position you want and which zoo.
Also, it all depends on which University you work at as to how much you make and how much research you do. Many professors only teach a class or two a year and spend the rest of their time doing research and assisting their grad students. Then there are some professors who teach 4 classes a semester and have almost no time to do research. So it all depends on what type of University you get to work in, whether it is a research university or a primarily teaching university. Research universities are hard to get into. And many professors teach during the summers as well.
Good luck either way,
Robert
