Don't know how good they are - I don't keep Bitis. But there are care sheets there.
Good luck,
Karl

Hello Crotalus Catcher,
I produced a brief care guide a while back, regarding Gaboon and Rhinoceros Vipers. The link to it, is provided below;

Hello Phobos, thankyou for the kind words.
Thought you might be interested in this; My adult male West African Gaboon Viper (Bitis gabonica), shed his skin last night (27/10/04)... It's the first time he has shed since November 2003!! One draw back though, he took the opportunity to take a dump.. first time in 10 weeks... the odour was somewhat stomach turning and eyewatering!! It's got to the stage now where I need a long handled shovel to clean up after him! They don't go often, but when they DO go - they REALLY go! Perhaps it would be easier keeping a horse? hmmm. Anyway, he looks REALLY nice though, his head is as pale as white cotton!
His shed skin measures 6 Feet, 6 Inches precisely. He measures around 70 Inches T.L (the internal length of his enclosure is exactly 72 Inches long and from nose tip to tail tip, he is around 1 1/5 - 2 Inches short of the enclosure length).
Hope this was of some interest. They never cease to interest and amaze me.
Regards

Hi Richie:
Wow...long time to not shed. Sounds like a big o'le bugger. They do seem to get a more of a cotton color are they get older/larger. Mine still has lots of pinks. She has gone for 11 weeks in between dumps and I agree the stench is really bad!! I have two horses, not a good trade, they dump about that amount a few times a day!
I got a nice 0.1 B. caudalis neonate, she is a real cutie I have some pic's of her on Kingsnake. Just search the photo galleries for Phobos.
See ya mate.

Hello Phobos, I took a look at your Bitis caudalis on Kingsnake - your right A REAL CUTIE! HUGE eyes (typical of most Bitis neonates). Looks in tip top condition too.
All the best mate
