The mojave toxin in Crotalus s. scutulatus is slightly more toxic then the neurotoxin in canebrake toxin. But the volume from a canebrake bite is 5 to 10 times more then a mojaves volume per bite. So the canebrake(with neurotoxin) is probably our most dangerous snake in the USA but not the most toxic.

Hi Jim:
Thanks for the clarification. So I was told not completely accurate information. What are the current venom yield estimates for those two snakes?
That area is one of my favorite areas to herp (photographically). I will be extra careful when working that area.
Best,
Al

I wasn't too concerned with the total yeild from the last bite as it was a juvenile BUT it did "hang on" for about two seconds. I had to shake him off because I don't think he had any intentions of letting go. I also had on a latex glove so he may have been hung up on that. Either way, I think this is going to be something I need to look into further. One of my coworkers was bitten a couple of years ago by a Pygmy and he also says that he has had noticable memory loss after his bite. If I was an old man, I wouldn't be as concerned but I am only 27. I wasn't planning on worrying about my memory until I was old. At least 35....(jst a little joke for all of you old farts out there).
Thanks for ther replies so far.

Yields we get average 10 to 45 mg for mojaves and 100 to 300 for canebrakes.

I was bitten in August 2015. Within a week I noticed significant memory loss, both long term and short term. I was diagnosed with medical dementia and told that everything should be fine within 6 months. I can no longer do my job as a teacher. I am having to go down to parttime work next year. Using my brain causes brain fatigue and headaches. I have sensory issues as well and when I get over stimulated I ave coordination issues. My speech was majorly affected. I have a hard time recalling words, spelling, and typing. Looking for others like me...
