A friends Puff Adder that he just purchased is opening its anal passage (butthole) It is a female and is approx. 36 inches long and very thick and active. But, I have noticed it on several ocassions that it opens this part of her anatomy. Is it a behavior exhibited by a female that is in heat? Or, does she have a problem??? At first, I thought she was about to give birth, but nothing came out, other than something white, but that part remained inside her sphincter. I am still baffled. Any help will be appreciated. I have a couple pics that I took yesterday, where can I post them?? Thank you.

Have you checked her for an impaction... maybe she cant get it out. Tube her and see if it feels hard down there; you may have to help push it out. I repeat, tube her its the only safe way.

Hi:
Jon has a good point. Have a Vet check its stool for parasites.
Good luck,
Al

Compacted maybe? If you can't have it checked by a vet, treat it with panacur (for internal parasites) and soak it in some warm water. If she is compacted, that should help her pass it. I hope this helps. Keep us posted on the out come. Thanks,
Bobby
