A taxonomic name would be helpful, but if this is the snake I'm thinking of, we probably don't know. There should be more information out in the not-too-distant-future on the venoms or rear-fanged snakes in general and I suppose that if anything of interest turned up, they would get a mention.
While I don't have a copy of Dangerous SNakes of Africa in front of me, I am pretty sure that they are not given much, if any, mention. If I think about it, I'll check my literature on them. In the meantime, you ought to run by Bryan Grieg Fry's website (www.kingsnake.com/toxinology) may have some information and you might look them up on www.pubmed.com, but I doubt that you'll find much. Most of the information that we have are on Dispholidus and Thelotornis--Boomslang and Twig Snakes, respectaivly.
Just wondering, why do you ask about this particular snake?
Cheers
Roger

Im not sure on exactly how toxic their venom is but I saw Corwin freehandle a pair of them at the same time and he mentioned there venom as being mildly toxic. They also appeared to be quite docile. Thats my two cents hope it helps.

I did a little looking up on them and it seems that they are more commonly reffered to as the Madagascan Twig-nose Snake, the taxon of which escapes me right now. All the information that I could find was on sexual dimporphism. I have no informaion on any level of toxiciy from them, but if they are rear-fanged, then I wouldn't be suprised.

Thanks for the info. The zoo I work for is looking at getting a pair so I'm just doing a little homework. Their latin name is Langaha madagascariensis.

Beautiful snakes, drop in and keep us updated on them, if your zoo does indeed get them. As I said, I could find nothing on them being venomous, but that doesn't mean that they do not possess a Duvernoy's Gland and produce some sort of prey-specific toxin.
Cheers
