I am planning a trip on spring break to tour South Carolina looking for the famous "Tin Fields." I was wondering what are some good counties to look in. I do know Jasper county is good. Around the the area Kaffeld worked with the Eastern diamondbacks. I would like any info would be appreciative. Also if anyone knows of some good roads, state parks, national forest or anything else. If you do not want to say on the forum just email.
Please any info,
Phillip

Hit the main creek running into lake Marion. We found at least 50 cottonmouths in less than 3 hrs. Parish Coker was our guide for the day and he can smell a cotton from 100 ft.

The farther south, and the farther east you go, the more stuff you will find.
Okeetee is good for roadcruising in the spring but don't park on the hunt club and walk into the woods, they will tow your car in a heartbeat.
Hope this helps,
