How big of snake do you have? What kind of heating or lighting is being used? Does this snake have a place to hide/Cool?If so any temp readings from inside there? Id say slightly bigger enclosure but im no expert,Plus would like to know above info.

88 degrees F seems alittle too high of a temp without a cool spot. How big is the snake? I sometimes keep yearling rattlesnakes in 10 gallons but they out grow them fast. An easy way to make a cool spot is to get three rocks, lay two rocks a few inches apart and lay a flat rock on top of them. They can go on top of the rock to bask or under it to cool down. Do you have fresh water at all times? Ive heard some people say that snakes dont drink water everyday but almost all of my snakes drink everyday and will dehydrate very fast without water. If you want to lower the temp alittle you can buy a bulb with less watts. I hope this helps.
