I went road cruising on a whim tonight and lo and behold, caught 2 WDB's about 2 feet in length! This was promising considering the high today was only 70. But it has been 70ish the last 3 days so hopefully they're coming back out for good. The winter has been a boring one for me since I got into road cruising at the end of last season. Is anyone else finally catching stuff again?

Well, I honestly can't say that I have found much lately, enen though it is in the mids of summer (South Africa). The thing is, here, we are not allowed to capture any reptile without a valid cathing permit, which I have, but still you are only allowed to capture reptiles which pose a "threat" to someone, and even then, only on their request.
I did visit my mother's farm this season. There I came accross a couple of pitch black and extremely beautifull Rinkhals (Hemachatus haemachatus) between 3 to 4 feet in lenght. Also I found a couple of Herald snakes (Crotaphopeltis hotaembia). Other than that, only the usual bounty of African Brown House snakes (Lamprophis fulliginosis).

Hey guys! I haven't posted on this forum for a while now. Anyway, there are absolutely no herps around my house, Long Island is obviously not the best choice for herping but I have to deal with it. My friend says he's seen some harmless little garter snakes, but not much more. I wish I was down in the Southeast where they've got copperheads, cottonmouths, various rattlesnake species, and coral snakes. Although you can find some nice Timber rattlesnakes upstate. I might go up there some time. Although Venezuela wouldn't be that bad either...
Happy Herping,
Bryan
