two questions. first,is the king snake immune to only the venomous snakes in that region? and second, are all kings equall as far as immunity, or does a particular type stand out? thanks

Dr. Zoltan Tokacs did a show on National Geographics about Cobras being immune to venom. Forgive me if the information is inaccurate, but it had something to do with sugar molecules blocking nerve receptors. Im not sure if king snakes are the same. Thats a good question. Hopefully someone will on here will have an answer. If you can find a way to contact Dr.Zoltan Tokacs, he may have the answer. Go to the field photos section and he has a picture of him and an east african gaboon viper, click on his name at the bottom of the picture and he should have an email or a website.

His website is zoltantakacs.com. He mentions venom immunity on his site but it deals more with cobras being immune to their own venom. Hope this helps.

Where in the hell did cobras come into this persons question?? The question is about KING SNAKES. The only king snake I have experience with would be the Florida Kingsnake. Yes, they are immune to rattlesnake venom, and they will eat and kill rattlesnakes, along with other snakes. If I had to guess, I would say they are immune to venomous snakes in there own region. I dont know for sure. The person I would ask would be Dr. Fry at venomdoc.com. I am sorry some of the site members cant read.
