Last weekend I caught 6-7 grey tree frogs. At the time of capture they were very green. But now after a week in captivity they have turned bright Grey. Is this because of heat, change in enviroment or what?

Phillip: The grey treefrogs have some ability to change colors to match their habitat. They also might change colors some during breeding activity or because of temperature / humidity conditions. What color is the habitat you are keeping them in? Does the habitat you are keeping them in have green foliage? You might want to add some green foliage and see if that causes a color change. All of them are kept in a 65 gallon tropical rainforest type aqurium. I have a 2 until now. Now there is over 11 in there. Most of the foliage is green, with some other colors. All seem do do great in what I have them in. I have a few tree frogs in it a long time ago which live so many many years. I think they are the most Hardy frogs you can get.

I would not worry to much about the color change. Since the plants in the terrarium are green, and they are grey, I guess they are not trying to match the color of the habitat. Keep an eye on them and see if they eat well for you. Watch and see if they ever turn green again. Could be something that triggers the color change. Anything like different humidity, temperature, etc. This kind of stuff has been poorly studied, so you just might observe something unique and new if you can determine why and when they change colors. Good luck with them. Best Regards JohnZ
