Does anybody know of an same sized cobra able to eat it's cage mate? Both cobras of same size and kept in a vision cage with lock, so escape is not possible.

Yes I went to Fl for a week and before I left cleaned and watered all the cages, then double checked all the locks on the cages then locked the hot room. Came home and went to clean and water again and all the cages and room were still locked but my female egyptian is nice and fat and no male! They have been kept togeather for a while now and fed seperatly so I would not have problems but now I guess I was wrong.

Sounds like your female partook of quite a nice meal! I too have had similarly-sized cobras in the same enclosure - though these were juvenile N. siamensis - and had one consume the other. Moral of the story: unless you specifically want to feed one snake to the other, and who eats whom is totally up to which ever is more aggressive or dominant, not necessarily bigger, don't keep ophiphagic snakes together. I learned this the hard way, and it sounds like you just did too. I'm sorry to hear it. Were you trying to breed? If so, maybe they copulated before she ate him. Best of luck in the future.

This is the first time I have heard of a Breeding Age, Male & Female (Naja haje) turning cabalistic. I never knew that this was common among Egyptians. Is this really that common of a occurrence, or is it rare? Now, I have had other Species do this before, such as (Agkistrodon piscivorous), and a few others. Truly sorry to hear of your lose. Like Chance said, hope they copulated before she had the meal “no fun intended”. I really hate to see anyone give so much time to a Beautiful Animal, then have it go away “I know the filling very well”...................Be safe ya’ll, happy herping Wally

I have had snakes eat other snakes before. WE all know not to keep two snakes together.
