The report is full of inaccuracies. I wrote the reporter to see if she would write another piece to clear things up. I won't hold my breath. Alabama Fish & Wild Life doesn't have a clue.

Probably a False water cobra. What I want to know is why his house was raided in the first place!

How rediculous! I too sent the publisher of the article an e-mail. Maybe if she gets enough, she'll do a bit of research and print an appropriate follow-up. I also asked her to direct her findings to the authorities in that area. Isn't it completely possible that, if it indeed turns out to be the dreaded false water cobra, that it may not even be covered under AL law? I'm thinking so, considering that it's basically a 'harmless' rear-fang. I hope that anyone reading this thread that goes to the link provided will send an e-mail as well. No AV available for this snake within all of AL...no crap...and what was that bull about dying within hours from a bite? Wow....scary what some people come up with to sensationalize an article.

I just wanted to drop a small update. I received an e-mail back from the lady who wrote the story. She said she was going on what the authorities told her and would post a corrected story tomorrow. Maybe she'll actually try to set the record straight.
