but is there a reason that it isn't a VBB-type forum?
is it cost, or contract, or just preference?.......maybe the transfer of info that is here would be life consuming lol
just wondering...just seems that things would be smoother with that format.......

The site is generated by a program called "Spoke". The forum format is just part of the package. Check out eHam.net to see a sister site.

I actually like this format better than any other site that I have been too. I was thinking about that the other day. The format on this site just seems more professional. I love how everything is arranged.

I have to agree with Jeremy. This site is easy to use, much more so than many others I have visited. To sum it up in two words, this site is "User Friendly".

Question for Webmaster

Chris,
Is there a way to automatically go to the last page of replies to a thread, rather than having to page through them all. Granted most aren't terribly long, for instance, the recent replies to Jim Harrison's letter, were 8 pages. To view recent responses, was a pain to page through it all, to read one or two recent replies.
I was wondering if when you click a hot topic, it could automatically, go to the last page/most recent replies.....or does it already do that, and I have to change a setting in my profile somewhere??
thanks
Matt

Matt,
No, the system is set up so that you have to start at the beginning of a thread and there's no way around it.

Matt,
When you get an address for a thread, page 2 will show up like this:
http://www.venomousreptiles.org/forums/Experts/16694?page=2
All you have to do is change the 2 to a 9 and hit enter. It will take you straight to page 9.

or if you have already been through the pages and are just checking them frequently, just put type in a question mark at the end of the link and the pages that you have been to previously will drop down and just click on them. example http://www.venomousreptiles.org/forums/Experts/16694
just put a question mark at the end: http://www.venomousreptiles.org/forums/Experts/16694?
then "the box" should drop down with the pages that you have been to in that topic.
