ok, new acquisition (monday) and he acts perfectly fine, but he was about to shed and i thought the inflamed area was the result of a bad shed somewhere along the line, but he just shed perfectly, and the area in the pic looks like a hemorrhoid almost.....is the passage to his j. organ inflamed? it's not parasitic, and to me looks just like inflamed tissue......anyone with experience in this type of thing, because i've not come across it yet and i wanna help the big guy if there is any way i can.....his habits seem perfectly normal, but this looks bad.....

that's what i'm thinking...the whole area is really inflamed......he's been kept seperately too, no bite from another snake OR mouse.....it looks like it's been like that a while too

Rick, is the Snake fed live food? If so, it could be an infected bite. Just a possible scenario. I don’t think it’s the Jacobs Organ, looks like the Pit to me too............................Be safe ya’ll, happy herping Wally

Also, what kind of Substrate do you use? It could be a Infection from something interring the Pit. Who who knows, don’t you wish they could talk and tell you what’s wrong “LOL”?...........Be safe Wally

Looks like a tumor to me... If it was an infection I think the surrounding area with be involved. This looks to be contained and solid.

the surrounding area is involved, it's swollen as well......it's not a bite from another animal, he's been fed F/T and always kept alone by the other guy and myself......it looks like the inside of someone's nose but swollen......that same kinda tissue.......if i can get ahold of the vet that will help me out locally i'm gonna do that....

damn this board needs updating SEVERELY......gotta let go and move forward sometime......i'd happily pay a membership fee to get another format, maybe VBB since this throws posts all over the place.....
but anyway, it's not substrate related either because i use that crushed walnut shell stuff and have for years, it COULD enter but he was like this before i got him and he was on big chunks of cypress mulch which were too big......i was thinking and it had to have been a bite from a rat somewhere along the way.....could be an OLD injury, doesn't look new.....doesn't seem to bother the guy either, but i put on some neosporin and gonna see if the inflammation goes down or if it heals somewhat or something.....

Ricky:
Contact Ms. TT at www.snakegetters.com She has the most Snake Vet knowledge out of anyone I know. Maybe she can suggest something or has seen it before.
Best,
Al
