I'm not sure about anybody else but when I check a thread and see a "screen name" that I don't recognize, I click on it and check the person's profile.
I am always interested in seeing what everyone is keeping.
In fact, so are the Fish and Game and Department of Natural Resources officers who occasionally peruse our site.
So, for my word to the "wise", don't be surprised if F & G or DNR (whichever applies for the state you are in) contacts you about the permits necessary for whatever you say (in your profile) that you are keeping. And they usually aren't very sympathetic to the "I just said that so people would take me seriously" crowd.
The SHHS does not condone the illegal keeping or trading of reptiles.
Now all that said, I want everyone to understand that I have intentionally not pointed out any individuals. I am not in the business of asking everyone in the forums "Do you have a permit for that?" I just don't have the time to do my job and law enforcement's job too. I just want everyone to be aware that several law enforcement bodies frequent our site and we will not shield or side with anyone who comes here and openly states that they are breaking the law.

That's what I love about South Carolina; at the present, we don't need permits, although there are many who are fighting to change that. Every time I start to really complain about the heat, the humidity, the hurricanes and thunderstorms, the lousy eduction system, the lack of jobs, etc., I have to remind myself that we still have more freedoms, insofar as keeping animals goes, than most other states, including our two neighboring states, GA and NC. And believe me, I do not take this for granted!

I have no illegal animals. I also live in a state that is some what leanient about keeping animals. I have a breeding pair of Europeans locked safey in a cage. I also have there papers and permits to keep them. They are up for sale if anyone wants them. I might donate them to the zoo. Who knows.

You better let those "Europeans" out of that cage and let them go home. My god man, keeping them for breeding too! God knows they breed well enough in their own countries, so why bother breeding them. You're likely to cause an international incident, nothing worse than those diplomats decending on your house, speaking their "double speak" keeping everyone up all night. Those pesky diplomats are nocturnal creatures hiding in corners whispering in strange tongues stirring up all sorts of trouble. Let them go before all hell breaks loose. I don't want to have to come down there in my "tube socks" and free them myself.
You've been warned!!

I'm keeping a couple of Canadians for breeding purposes if anyone's interested in them.
