well i have several questions now, as i posted before i have 7 three day old copper head babies, well how long does it usually take for them to shed, (am i correct in understanding that they wont feed till their first shed?) and second, the mother, how long till i wait to introduce her to my male, and they breed again? and also, my final question, the 7 babies i have now i dont plan to keep, any suggestions on selling them, or finding them new homes, the parents are captive bred, and i need to find them homes as i wont release them into the wild. also what about the legality of selling them ( i live in sc) i really dont need to be sued for selling them to a dumb ass that gets bit and tries to sue me~! thanks for the help onece agian and the advise!

Stefan: The newborne copperheads will shead within 14 days, with 3 to 9 days being usual. They will feed before they shead the first time, but often folks wait until the shedding, as they become active after that and seem more interested in food.
As far as breeding the female to the male, copperheads often breed in the spring and in the fall, when they are around den sites. So, introducing the parents in August, September, or October would be good. Often after the female sheds her skin is a good time, as it seems to release some scent that the males respond to.
As far as selling the ofspring, from what I understand about South Carolina, any sale of venomous snakes is permitted. Just do not sell the young ones to someone under 18 years of age. If you are worried about liability, have them sign a form that states that they take full responsibility and know the risks of owning venomous snakes.
Best Regards JohnZ

Not to be a too much of a jerk or anything, but if you don't even know what to do with the ones you have, why on earth are you thinking about intentionally breeding them again?
