Hi guys,
this is the good news: My female European Adder(Vipera berus) gave birth yesterday to 9 healthy babies. Not one still born. Tomorow they are going to be released in the wild.
and the bad news: the female Nose-Horned Viper(Vipera ammodytes montandoni) that was bitten by another viper(probably in the spine) and paralised hasn`t recovered so I had to make the aughfull decision of euthanasing her. I wouldn`t want anyone to ever be in my position...
Take care guys, Alex S.

Alex: Think of it this way: The world is plus 8 snakes due to your good captive husbandry. Too bad about the one, but that's the way it goes. It would be nice to always maintain one snake to a cage except for breeding, but that's not always possible.
Keep up the good work. ~~Greg~~

Thanks for the suport guys and for the lack of criticism. It was my screw up, I have to admit. Anyway, I always seperate my vipers when feeding now and they have no problem what so ever with one another in normal circumstances. Like I said, I found 5 gravid female V.a.montandoni under the same rock and at the same time so my guess is that they do live in close proximity to one another in the wild without having violent confruntations. Take care,
Best regards, Alex S.
