Can anyone tell me the average gestation for eastern browns. I witnessed my pair breeding about 3 weeks ago and I would like to know so I know about when to put a nest box in the cage and when to expect eggs.
Thanks in advance

Have you noticed the female getting larger at all yet? And has her appetite increased/decreased in the past couple of weeks? From some of the literature I've read, it seems like for many Aussie elapids, the time period between mating and egg laying can be anywhere from 50-90 days. Like with almost all species though, the female will shed roughly a week or two before she lays her eggs. Toward the latter part of gestation, you should be able to visibly detect the eggs, and once she sheds and the eggs move into position for laying, it'll probably be very obvious. I would give her a laying box as soon as she goes into her next shed cycle just to be on the safe side. You may want to contact Chad Bachman or Randy Ciuros for some specific information regarding the captive propogation of textilis. I've seen a few recent ads by Randy in the classifieds here under the name "RC." You can probably contact him through his profile. Good luck!! And keep us informed!
