I was in Honduras A few weeks ago..Though I was fishing..I always spend some time snake hunting..came across some nice boa specimans..and a few d.o.r Asper...But was talking to a "local snake expert" who insisted that he has captured many Lachesis Muta in Honduras..As far as I know they are not much farther north than Central Nicaragua>> I can only assume he was Mistaken...(yeah I know he was an expert!) Perhaps he thought that any LARGE Asper was a Bushmaster??HHMMNN??.
Any one Know of any Lachesis this far north..Im curious??? I spend a lot of time In Central Am..and have seen lachesis in Costa Rica..and a HUGE specimen Unfortanatly killed in Panama..Just wondering if the known Scientific range has been Questioned..Or altered??

I don't think so. In fact, even in Nicaragua, the belief is that their range has shrunk considerably. Was he possibly catching larger (1m) Atropoides, that very closely resemble juvenile Lachesis?
Glad to hear you've seen them in Costa RIca. On the Caribbean side I presume? I've only found remnants of dead Lachesis melanocephala in Costa Rica.
