Well, I must say the turn out this weekend was pretty poor compared to last year. Not alot of people or vendors. I got some nice western diamondbacks and a nice ruber. Awesome snakes. And Chad Mintor, it was a pleasure to meet you. Hopefully, there will be a show next year. May end up going to the Columbia show next year. Bryan

I really enjoyed getting to meet quite a few members of the SHHS at the Greenville Show. It was fun.
I even ran into an old friend I worked with at AZP who I had not seen in 25 years.
If more of the vendors had shown up, the show would have been even better.
If they had invited better speakers for the presentations, the show would have been better, although the guy talking about the history of captive breeding ball pythons was fairly interesting. It is too bad the other speakers were worthless.
And if someone whould have fed those noisey maccaws and their keeper to a python, the show would have been better still !
Chad and the others who watched the booth, and escorted the venomous purchases, deserve a lot of credit. That was a really booring job, and they stuck with it.
And Mardi and the others who put together the cookout deserve a lot of credit also. It was a really nice thing to do and was greatly appreciated.
Best Regards JohnZ

I was disappointed with the lack of vendors and the speakers as well. It paled in comparison to last years show. But, I did enjoy getting to meet some of the fellows that I have corresponded with via email. I saw Chuck Hurd, who I got some quality animals from earlier this year. Met Chad Minter, got his book, Phillip Higgans and last but certainly not least, John Zegel. John, I really appreciate all the info and advice. I did get some NICE Copperheads and a Cottonmouth from Mardi Snipes. Mardi,
"THANKS" for your hospitality and the quality animals.
Best regards,
Vampire

I don't believe the speakers and/or venders that were not there are at fault. From what I understand, the building wasn't even paid for until Friday afternoon so the show was almost cancelled.Alot of people can't do things on a last minute notice.NOTE- This is what I heard from a reputable sorce. It may or may not be true.

I talked with a friend who was on the updated list of venders/exibitors who were supposed to be at this show. His name appeared on both the flyer and web site.
He was surprised, as he said he has not done one of the South Carolina shows in a couple of years.
I wonder if a lot of the other vendors names on the list are there for ``fluff`` to make it look like the show is going to be better than it turns out to be?
And I wonder why this Roark fellow who was on all the advertising did not show up?

It was great to meet you guys John, Professor Chuck and the rest Sunday at the show.
There were only 30 vendors off of his vendor list that were actually there. We were also informed by a few of the vendors in Columbia last week that they had repeatly told Tony they were not doing the Greenville Show but yet he felled to remove them from the list. It seems like he was trying to decieve people!
As far as Roark he is a member here so I will let him explain that but I know for a fact that Roark had asked Tony to remove any mention of him on all advertising and website before the Tampa show.
I am not sure how the rest of you feel about how he had the venomous mixed with the non venomous but to me that could have spelled bad news for attendees, vendors as well as having DNR all over the reptile shows here in SC!
Hope to see you all again in SC!

I did very well as a vendor at Greenville. However, I must admit that most of my sales were wholesale to pet stores on Sunday. And yes, Tony did have the hots mixed in with the non-venomous. I had cute little lizards & the people next to me had rattlers & copperheads. Kids kept coming over to my tables from the petting zoo & putting their hands on my stuff. I actually had to be rude to some of them & point out the petting zoo was 'over there'. I was expecting to see a lot of my friends from out-of-state. But very few people advertised as vendors even showed up. What a disappointment! And to you, Cathy- You may not have had 140+ vendors listed for your show, but the ones you did have listed were there. People KNEW who was going to be there before they showed up.

I too found Tony's Greenville Show very lacking...
Especially with all his claims about media coverage, 140 plus vendors,e.t.c. All I saw were alot of broken promises. With all his hoopla about how much money and effort he was putting into this show; I thought it left alot to be desired. Most of all I was appalled at what lengths he went to trash-mouth the S.E.R.C. promoters. I commend Cathy Elrod and the rest of the S.E.R.C. for their professionalism on this issue and for not dropping to Tony's level despite his harsh and slanderous criticism. When it gets to that level it can become bad business for all involved as well as the hobby as a whole.
Just my .02,
Todd
