Bryan: I have not kept Green Tree Pythons since I worked at the Zoo. The ones we had then were Wild Caught, and would often try to bite when we cleaned the cages, or tried to feed them. We would often have to hold a mouse in forceps and tease the snakes into striking to get them to eat.
I hope the captive born ones are better tempered, and easier to get to feed.
I have been thinking about purchasing a couple of pairs of them for breeding purposes, but have just started to look at what is available. From what I have found so far, there are some quality CB animals out there, but they are not cheap!
The cages by Habitat Systems Limited you mentioned look like very nice cages, but I bet they are quite expensive. It is too bad that they do not list basic prices on the web site. I especially like the fiberglass backgrounds they offer.
You might find some old large neodesha cages at good price, on this web site, or Ebay, but they are getting scarce.
If you are going to just keep a couple of Green Tree Pythons or Emarald Tree Boas, you might want to build your own arborial cages out of 3/4 inch plywood. They would be heavy, but also very sturdy.
When I started keeping reptiles, I built a lot of cages that way. Let me know if you want further information on building something like that.
Best Regards

I have only Kept one Emerald Tree Boa in all my time Keeping Snakes. If the one I had is any indication of their Temper, then I would say they are One Hell of a Hand Full. I could open the Cage Door and the Battle was on. This Snake was one of our Major attractions at the Zoo I worked at. As for GTP’s, I have never owned or cared for one “regrettably”. I am in the works of Building a Herp Room behind my house. I hope to be able to find at least one Healthy GTP to Keep. These Two Species are truly Beautiful, and I would dare to say one of the most Priced of all Snakes..........................Be Safe Ya’ll, Happy Herping : Wally
