This is supposed to be an experts forum. When a question is posted, one posts it expecting an intelligent answer. Or at least SOME answer. I seriously doubt that NONE of the followers of this forum have any expertise on the subject of B alternatus. Why no response? I looked at the profile. We don't appear to be dealing with a novice. No one can respond?
My last alternatus was a wc adult that I had 35 (!) years ago. Husbandry has improved greatly since then. My experience is probably worse than useless. Where are you guys???

Well...
Trey is well known on this forum and a respected member, so that's not the issue. I know two people who keeps B. alternatus: One never posts on any of the forums and the second Matt Harris may not have had the time to check the boards. Some of us do have other commitments in life and sometimes have no time to post replies.
Cheers!
Al

Just because someone may not know about keeping B. alternatus does not exlude them from being an expert. By the way...nevermind.

I didn't mean to imply that in depth knowledge of alternatus is a prereq for expert status. I was merely surprised that no one had responded to the sort of question that a forum like this exists for.
I must also admit to a selfish motive. I am considering adding the species to my current collection and would be interested in any insights keepers out there may have.
As I noted, my last experience was quite a few years ago - long long before resources such as the internet became available. The specimen in question was difficult, to say the least. The professionals in my acquaintance at the time had little if any experience with the species, and I have only recently turned my attention back to matter.

..did see someone's post on K-snake.
They're not difficult to take care of, and in fact, easier than most other Bothrops to handle. Mine are the most placid of all the Bothrops I've kept.
There's a captive care page on my website...Go to Species accounts.

Thanks to the preceding three posters. You have restored my faith in this forum. I'll be in touch soon. Battling run of the mill respiratory Mycoplasm right now. Good thing H5N1 hasn't made it here yet. My wife, a DOCTOR no less(!!???!), can't seem to fix anything...

re: "Some of us do have other commitments in life"
You're talking to someone who spends 80 hours a week in the office (IT manager)... And then I have to go home to my wife... And HER computer problems...
I'm developing an almost pathological hatred of computers. God willing, Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer will be cast into the heretofore unknown 10th circle of Hell. Dante dared not tell.
