This may be old news to some, but I read on another site that venomous will NOT be allowed at Daytona. I had planned on going this year, but scratch that idea now!
Best regards,

Hey ya’ll, dose anyone know the reasoning behind them not allowing Venomous at Daytona? I thought that FL was a Venomous Friendly State, seems strange. I surely hope this isn’t a trend to be followed by other Venomous Shows, if so it could be the beginning of the end for Venomous Sales. Lets hope other Reptile Shows don’t decide to follow along, it could mean an end. ............................Be Safe Ya’ll, Happy Herping : Wally

Last year was the first (and I guess only) time I made it to the Daytona show. While I was very happy with the vendors, prices, and the way it was run, it was tiny and dead (the hot section). There's no way the vendors made any money, and I'm not sure I could have justified the trip (from Miami) again this year unless I had reason to think it would be bigger. I've also heard mention of insurance issues.

I think there may be issues between the main organizer and the venomous show organizer...think about it.

Actually, I figured last year would be the last year of the venomous, although I am just now hearing about it. I don’t think it has anything to do with issues between people, I think it simple economics. Molt ran this for 3 years. The first year was successful. Venders made out pretty well and Hank probably turned a profit. The next two years he put it in the Ocean center. Can you imagine the cost of renting that place? Tony paid $9000 to rent his room for two days at this year’s Atlanta show, I am certain the Ocean center would exceed that. I do not know Molt on a personal level, so I have no idea what he paid in rent, insurance, advertising, ect….but as an economic major, I can assure you he did not turn a profit in the last 2 years. The year before last one could accredit to the hurricane, but last year was optimal conditions and there were like 5 venders and hardly anyone sold anything. One of the main draw backs is the FL law. Most people can not walk in and buy a venomous snake. You have to have a permit. So the thousands of people that flock to Daytona from other states would have to buy the snake, then pay a box and shipping fee on top of that. How many people will actually do that when they could go to one of the SC or PA shows and just buy what they want? I am sorry to see the venomous room go, but if it wasn’t going to be any better then last year, it was a mercy killing.
