Just wanted to give a list of the Species I have caught this Spring, it’s been unbelievable. The 6 Snake I am about to name were all found within a 3 Day Period, 2 : (Elaphe obseleta obseleta) Black Rat Snake, 2 : (Lampropeltus getulus nigra) Black Kingsnake, 1 : (Thamnophis sirtalis sirtalis) Eastern Garter Snake, and 1 : (Nerodia sipedon pleuralis) Midland Water Snake. These were all caught on my 3 Days off Work, it is unbelievable. After the way things were here last year I could not believe my luck. I hope that it just gets better “LOL”. Well just thought I would list the Species I have found. I hate that I found no Venomous yet this year, hope that changes soon.......................................Be Safe Ya’ll, Happy Herping : Wally

I have seen 5 snakes this year, only was able to catch 2 though. I am not sure what the 3 spieces I missed were. I caught one Blotched Watersnake and 1 Prarie Kingsnake though, in Fort Worth Texas.
Soon I will be back in Southeast Michigan. There are no poisonous snakes there, but plenty of Eastern Fox snakes, although you get fined for touching them. If I see one I irresistably catch them though, but I always release a few hours after. They are supposed to be "Threatened", but I dont see how. I can find one everytime I go out looking.

Hey Ricky, E-mail me and we will try and work out a good Herping Trip. I will be around for the next 3 Days, but after that I will have to hit the Road. My Job keeps me out for 14 Days, 3 Off. Its just one of those things “LOL”......................................Be Safe Ya’ll, Happy Herping : Wally

I went kayaking on a creek in South Carolina this past Thursday. I paddled downstream for a mile and then back up. I saw 29 snakes total, 5 brown water, 6 banded and 18 cottonmouths.

Jeremy,
Sorry...but it looks like the link broke...do a search on Oakland County and Rattlesnakes...they do indeed have them...my sister and her family dog happened across one in the park by her house...not to big, but enough to scare the pants off her.
Anyway, good luck.

I've been herping my tail off so far this spring. Not going to list the numbers, but here's the species list.
D.O.R. DRYMARCHON CORAIS COUPERI
A. piscivorous
A. contortrix
C. horridus
C. atrox
C. molosus
L. getula
N. fasciata
N. taxispilota
N. erythrogaster
N. floridana
E. guttata
E. obseleta
E. emoryi
C. constrictor
O. aestivus
H. platirhinos
C. amoenus
D. punctatus
T. coronata
S. occipitomaculata
S. dekayi
T. sauritus
I guess i'll just leave it at that, found lots of cool lizards, some Gopherus, and amphibians too, some S.C. county records on caudates. Headed back to d-back country this weekend, hopefully adding those to this years list.
Anybody want to go herping?
