Hey David, is that a PGN taipan in your profile photo? The only one I've personally worked with would have made you pay for holding him that way? He would have done a 180 to his right, flipped off that hook and been on you before you had a chance to scream like a little girl... At least that's what I would do! :) And he was half that size...

Hah, excellent action series Larry. I have to admit though, I've handled all 3 of the canni I had before in that same manner at one time or another....or at least hook and tail....and they were all fairly easily handled once removed from the enclosure. Admittedly, the big male was probably very sick at the time, but the babies and eventual juveniles were quite healthy and spunky! They did have this odd habit of throwing their heads back toward their tails when I'd try to get them up on a hook. It was almost as if they knew once I had them by the tail, there was little else they could do, so they tried to protect it at all costs. It was actually very odd to see them do this, but an impressive testament to their intelligence at the same time.
