I didn't want to waste multiple threads with different questions, so here it goes:
1) Roger Conant was obviously a major contributer to the herpetological community, but I have no idea how to pronounce his name. Is the O long, or more of a shwa? I am going to have to defend my thesis in November, and when I mention his name I want to have the correct pronunciation (especially since at least two of my thesis board members are likley to have met him)
2) I am looking for a citation for a chapter that Mike Dorcas wrote about how snake behavior affects thermodynamics of the snake. I beleive it was called "Thermobiology", but I can't be sure. Actually, if anyone has this in electronic format, that would be EXCELLENT!
Thanks in advance for the expert help.

Joshua, the last time I talked with Dr. Conant was about 1984, when he was being honored at a SSAR meeting. I believe it was Howard K. Gloyd who introduced him, and from what I remember, his name was pronounced by Dr. Gloyd with a long ``O``, as in CO-nant.
Hope this helps. Best Regards JohnZ

Joshua,
1. Yes, John is correct, it is a "long O", as in CO-nant.
2. Sorry, I personally do not have the other in my collection, at least not here at home and right now I don't have access to anything in my office at the zoo. Wish I could help you on the Thesis.
