House Bill 643 entered the Ohio House of Representatives on August 10, 2006. This deals with exotic animals. It is not law, yet. It will establish a permit system. It will also require a six to eight foot security fence along the perimeter of the affected property, and require signs every 10 feet along the property perimeter stateing that you have exotic animals. Additionally, the keeper would be required to publish their name, address, and a list of the exotics that they keep in the newspaper (theft?). Specifically, this will affect keepers of iguanas, monitors, elapids, and boids over 8 feet long. The link is below, and I encourage all Ohio keepers read it.

Here you go Ohio! Y'all better get a handle on that before it gets out of control. Ohio is a key state. It is very important that y'all don't go down. If you respond the way we have been down here in NC & SC, you may be able to have great influence or completely defeat that piece of legislation. It is not that hard if you can rally a strong grass roots opposition to the bill and it's sponsors. Please feel free to use our model at NCARK. Join Us & Help Protect Your Rights!
