I know that we already did a roll call, but I have a question about tickets. I ordered my VIP tickets from the show's web page. Do I actually need a physical ticket, or will my name be on a list and they'll just let me in?
On a side note, I defend my thesis next Wednesday (8th November). The topic is "Spatial Ecology of the Agkistrodon Complex in the Coaastal Plain of South Carolina". If you're prayin' people think of me next Wednesday. ;)

If they sent you one then definitely bring it, if for some reason it doesn't show up just ask for me, cathy, or john pullian when you get to the door and we'll get it taken care of.
As far as praying, I'm devoutly Buddhist. I will however wish you the very best and hope you do well.
There's a old tibetan saying that says "if the problem can be solved, there's no use worrying about it. If it can't be solved then worrying about it will do no good" -- so don't worry, you'll do fine.

Muchas gracias. BTW, I thought that Buddhists prayed...my request for prayer was not directed at any one particular group. I will accept prayers of darn near any kind ;).
See you at the show. My daughter and I are really looking forward to it.

Although a few sects (japanese and some tibetan) do believe in deities, most Buddhists don't really believe or disbelieve in a God or gods, and Buddhism is largely agnostic. Most believe The Buddha was an ordinary man just like you or I, who figured out a way to live life that freed one from suffering. He taught it to a lot of people, who in turn taught it to a lot of people. The statues, altars, malas, etc, are all there as both an homage and a reminder of the Buddha and his teachings. When you see a Buddhist in front of an altar they are meditating. This is training the mind to have the self-control necessary for living ones life with right thought, right speech, right action etc.
Praying is really asking an entity for a favor, in belief that the entity can grant that wish, Since the Buddha attained enlightenment and escaped samsara (the cycle of death and rebirth) he ceased to exist, ergo, he couldn't hear one if one did pray :-)
The closest thing to praying is the recitation of mantras, which is believed to arouse positive energies when repeated a certain number of times.
btw Buddhism is unique that one can also be Christian AND Buddhist, Jewish AND Buddhist, Atheist AND Buddhist and heck, probably even Satanist AND Buddhist. Some people look at it as more a philosophy and code of moral ethics than a religion.
And when I said I wish you the best -- I sincerely do -- I hope you do great :-)
Looking forward to meeting you,

Your name will be on the VIP list at the door. It might be helpful/just in case to print off the confirmation from pay pal and bring it with you.
We have distributed 40,000 fliers in stores and few hundred on Papa John's Pizza boxes as well as 85 out of 150 road signs. The show is already put on the Temple's big sign and he has received alot of phone calls about the show.
Everybody ready for this???????????
