i got a young female gaboon about 8" just about a month ago and can't get her to eat any tricks to get her started. the temp it 80 degrees and lights on about 14 hours a day

In order to help you out, you might want to add a few things so folks might have more of a direction to go on. Such as "what" exactly have you been offering it? (live, frozen/thawed, and or freshly killed)? What size rodents have you been offering to it?,(remember, just because it "can" eat that larger mouse, it might be better to feed it two rodents of a smaller size). Though I am no Bitis keeper, the above stated are sort of "general" rules when feeding any problem specimen. Due to the fact that there are so many other factors that could come into play, it is just not easy to pin-point the exact problem. One last thing, you say you provide a 14 hour light period. Hmmm, again my experience with Bitis is about zilcho, but 14 hours for any specimen seems a bit long. Just a thought.

frozen/thawed fuzzies that is what it was eating before i got it and a hide box in cage steady temp of 80

Keep it cooler by about 5 degrees and make it wetter by misting. Back off on the light too...12 & 12 this time of the year at the most.
