We have a law that prohibits keeping these as pets,
if one were to buy a couple of males and females, and release them in a wooded area, say the Metroparks, would that be possible?
would the government hate me for this?

I don't know if it would be such a good idea to release a venomous snake in any populated wooded area, such as a park in the middle of a city. I'm not exactly sure of what you mean though.

I believe that just having them in your possession and transporting them would get you into trouble, and there are ethical issues as well...even having them shipped to your address could have consequences...
