I just acquired my first elapid. I've done lots of research, but now am looking for personal accounts and notes on this species. If anyone has any info pertaining to behaviour, habitat, and any other misc. info, please let me know. Any and all information will be appreciated. Thanks

If you don't have a full face shield, get one. Dental supply outfits are probably your best source.
Naja nigricollis are not difficult. If yours gets to a point where it refuses rodents, bear in mind that most of the African cobras feed at least partially, if not primarily, on frogs & toads.
Enjoy your animal, & good luck. It would not have been my choice for a first elapid, but it's a little late now.

Greg's advice is spot on. A friend of mine got hit in the eyes by a nigricollis from about a foot away and went into convulsions from the pain. He's fine now, but I'm sure you get the point about wearing eye protection.
