Looking for a herper in South Carolina, Aiken area

I would like to get in touch with anyone in the Aiken area or close to there that would like to take a new resident out in the field for some herping. I need someone who is knowledgable about the local reptiles as I'm from the west coast. Only snakes or turtles I've found so far were dead on the road or the one live snapper I saw was being picked up off the road to go make soup! Aargh! I used to go field herping in California all the time, and I've done a little here but I'm not as knowlegeable on the local species and would really like to be out with someone who does. Whit Gibbons was kind enough to answer my queries but he's busy trying to save the SREL right now and just doesn't have the time right now. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you,

Meg, I am fairly new to the S.C area (Rock Hill) and am activily looking for people to take some herping trips with. I have found some great habitat near my area if you want to make the trip or I can meet you if you know of any good areas...

I'm wondering if either of you were at the herp conference at the beginning of the month. We try to have one every year here in SC. It's generally a good place to meet good herpers.
