The Columbia South Carolina Reptile Show this last weekend went well. It was great to see old friends there, and to make new friends.
The vendors had many, many quality animals for sale, and a great selection of herp related equipment.
The weather was great, and I believe that over 1000 folks attended the show on Saturday. Sunday was a somewhat slower, but that is probably because it was fathers day, and many folks were probably home doing cookouts and having visiting relatives.
Sales were slow for many vendors, which was unfortunate, but almost everyone did manage to sell some items. I guess that a lot of the folks who attended the show were local folks who just wanted to see the interesting animals, and who were not all that interested in keeping reptiles as pets.
We had the SHHS Banner at our table, and a large number of folks asked about the SHHS and were invited to visit the web site. It will be interesting to see if we gain a few new members to the site here because of that.
The Repticon Team again did an Excellent Job in promoting the show, and supporting the vendors !
Thanks again Billy, Cathy, Danny, John, and the rest of the team members, and thanks to all of the folks who helped with escorting venomous snakes and in the hot room ! These shows could not happen without all of your work.
I know that some vendors are probably dissapointed by slow sales at the show. I am somewhat. But still, I sold some books and some snake hooks and some cork bark. And I got to visit with friends, and all of the other vendors, and members of the SHHS site who attended the show. That is really what it is about anyway !
I just hope folks do not start complaining too much when we have a slow show, as the show was promoted well, and a large number of folks attended the show. Many of the folks did not buy much, but that is something we have no control over. The next show will be better. And now that the Columbia summer show has shown folks that it is alive and kicking again, I am willing to bet that in the future it will draw more people, and more herp people especially, as the folks who did attend go home and tell folks what a great show they missed.
Best Regards JohnZ

I think the show was a great show. The sales were slow, although the traffic was good on Saturday. But, we all still had a blast.
Always good to see old friends and meet new ones. The variety and quality of the animals were in my opinion better than the last couple shows my wife and I have been to.
I got to do some good trades and a few sales, and got to come home with a bunch of new critters.
The after show events were great also. Hanging around some good people and watching some real good Kanye impressions (lol, thanks Todd).
We had a great meeting with Andrew Wyatt about the future for NCARK/SCARK and for the southeast shows. Alot of great ideas came out of that. Hopefully Andrew can touch on that a bit more.
All in all I'd say one of the best shows I've been to. Lots of fun. I also got to purchase my new favorite snake hook (thanks JZ).
Looking forward to November !!!!

I had fun too. NCARK had their best SC show ever... by far! Thank you Cathy and Repticon!
SCARK is putting together a Board of Directors to broaden the scope of participation and experience as well as aid Roark in building a powerful organization. Roark has allowed me to pick two board members, which I did at Columbia. The new board members both work extensively in SC and have large spheres of influence. I am proud to say that Sal Ricco and John Pullian have both agreed to join the SCARK team. They will work to advise and assist Roark. They will also put together a team that will work all the SC shows to promote and represent SCARK. Thank you Sal and John for agreeing to be on the board. The COLD BLOODED MAFIA grows more powerful by the day!

It is good to hear that Sal Ricco and John Pullian have agreed to become Directors / Advisors for SCARK.
This is a very good start. Good luck to you both.
