I've already bought by daughter a stuffed animal fuzzy little ratsnake. I really don't care if she choses to take up the hobby or not, but I don't want her scared to death of any snake--respectful yes, but not scared. I'm sure that she'll eventually find out what I used to keep--and one day may again. If she wants to persure some area of herpetoculture then I'll happily aid her in whatever way I can. If she wants to persue some other hobby, I'll aid her in whatever way I can.
Cheers

How many of you would want your now child to do hots when they get older?....... if i were in your shoes sierra, the answer would be YES. in my shoes, however, the answer would be no. sierra, your son has "the bug", or so it seems. if i were you, i would educate him as best i could, and support him in his choice. my daughters, however, don't enjoy the hobby the way we do. some people go to a nascar race just to see a wreck. they don't want to be involved, but they want to see it. my girls are interested in snakes "ONLY" because i am. they don't have a personal desire to "KEEP" them, they just want to see the "wreck". as the father of two, i completely understand your concerns. i can only imagine my "fits" if they wanted to keep vens. with the proper education and training, however, I would support them, but only when i was confident they were competant. i think it is still a personal call, by competant parents. when you believe your son is ready, then go for it, but support him and stand behind him.

Good point in your, now missing, previous post, Bill. While I agree with your sentiment and appreciate the heads up, I removed your post too to avoid the inevitable questions of "What does he mean?" after I removed that TOTALLY inappropriate post. Let's try to keep it fairly responsible and clean folks. This IS a public education site.
