Remember when there were people on this forum who ACTIVELY worked in herpetology and didnt mind answering questions. I remember when this site started, when i got the first shhs newswire, when the columbia show had THE BEST collection of snakecharmers in the country (from ripa to snipes). I am afraid our community is struggling now, many are gone, and many who have come here are based on machismo and making money (so many psuedo non genetic traits advertised for thousands more than there worth). I just wanted to rant, many of you know me well enough already to know what im talking about, some are new and do not. I just miss the way this community was, and I am afraid of what its becoming (heck i remember swapping snakes all the time *regardless* of precieved monetary value, it used to be about the snakes. Again just a rant, slow here at the ER, and I have obviously read to many posts. Hope to see you oltimers again someday (from Filthy to Vaviper) but not sure it will happen. Damn we need a convention or something (a nonselling based convention) to share thoughs, Hey Chris, should the SHHS have a board meeting ? ;-}

People who really knew what they were talking about got tired of know-it all jerks flaming them, so they just don't bother anymore.

Hey Jared,
Ditto what Karl said... Unfortunately this hobby shares some similiarities with the salt-water fish hobby. People get in to it pretty heavy only to eventually get burned out. Start back again after a lengthy absence.Only to get burned out again. Like with the unexplained deaths of prized specimens and other such disappointing facets when keeping living things as a hobby.
