I have found a snake in my house (Greece) approximately 1m + long, thin, with black and dark blue (tiger) type stripes, yellow underneath, round eyes. I have searched the internet but cannot find anything. Any ideas what it could be.

This could be one of the members of the ratsnake family living in Greece, but I would like to see a picture. This sounds like an interesting looking snake. There is also an species of Eryx found there. Post a pic and then post a link if you can for a better answer.

Did you receive the picture? I have found something on the internet that looks like the snake it is a Platyceps najadum (whip snake) but cannot find any information on it i.e. venomous or not?? Thanks for any info, anyone.

Jacqueline, if the snake you found is indeed a Light Green Whip Snake , which is also called Dahl's Whip Snake ( P. n. dahlii ) , and also called a Kalymnos Whip Snake ( P. n. kalymnensis ) , then it is considered to be Non-Venomous.
A good site with more information on this snake is toxinology.com

Thanks - the picture looks like it, although the one I saw seemed to be a much darker blue. Hopefully it has made its way out as I haven't seen it again.
