I recently aquired a small (~30") specimen via a rescue due to abandonment by its previous owner. I have had two people with more experience than I tell me its a C. cerastes sp. but I am more inclined to think it is a C. mitchelli pyrrhus. Just hoping someone else could shed some more light. As my experience is centered around Texas species.

I checked with a couple of friends from out in Arizona and New Mexico and everyone agrees that it is not a sidewinder. They all agreed that it was some Crotalus mitchelli ssp but no-one was definite whether pyrrhus or stephansi.
Hope this helps.

looks to me to be a paniment or speckled rattlesnake. It's not a sidewinder. If you have the locality of where the snake came from it would be a little easier to tell the subspecie.
