I've had 2 Eastern Coral snakes in the past, and neither one did very well. Both were wild caught adults. I can't seem to find very much husbandry info on them on the net or in books.I'd like to try another one and I might pick one up at the SC show this wkend.Any info or maybe a good website with info would be very helpful. Thanx, Marty

I've never kept them, but I've been planning to so I've been gathering info. A cage setup that was suggested to me was to place a layer of sand on the bottom of the cage, and then cover that with 3 or 4 inches of Jungle Mix. Oh yeah....but first, a water bowl is placed with its bottom flat against the bottom of the cage. The mulch is piled against the edge of the water bowl so that the coral doesn't have to climb up to find water. Mist the Jungle Mix with water and place a large piece of flat bark in the cage. Mardi Snipes says that if you mess with them more than once a week, you're messing with them too much. Apparently coral snakes don't like an audience when they eat, so just toss in a comparably sized rat snake and leave the room. Skinks and lizards are also taken. The problem is keeping them in groceries. About one snake per week depending on how thick it is. Minimum 3 snakes per month. And never feed them ringnecks. Although the information is anecdotal, supposedly ringnecks are toxic to corals. Temps - mid 70's. If I find out anything else, I'll post it.
