I agree with GregLongHurst. I've plent of venomous snake coming up it will be 6 year. Within the 5 years i've had them I have been bitten by a western diamond back rattlesnakes and i was using the proper tools and i still ended up gettting bit. The antivenom was 2,000 a val-bottle. It took 14 vals of antivenom because of the wait by the doctors. Total for the event and after healing 51,000 dollars. So think twice before you get. Not trying to scare you. Keep in mind you can handle both wrong and right way and still get bit.

Like most people here, I'm going to strongly caution against acquiring a rattlesnake at 16 years of age...Are there 16 year olds mature enough to handle the responsibility? I'm sure there are...however, there are even fewer 16 year olds financially well off enough to handle the immense financial cost of a bite.
The fact that you would include a) animals prohibited in your state and b) animals that are definitely NOT "beginner rattlesnakes" (there is no such thing btw), leads me to believe that quite a bit more reserch is needed before acquiring one.
As has been mentioned previously, find a mentor, work with their animals...do this until the mentor (obstensibly a responsible keeper themselves) feels comfortable with you keeping your own animals...only then should you consider getting a rattlesnake.

Wow!!! What a Q. Rattlesnakes are wild animals and nedd to be respcted as such. Meaning "unpredictable". While some pigmys might be more inclined to turn tail on you. When cornered, some can be unpredictabley agressive. There are Herps with a lot of experience and scars to back that up. I know when I was 16,17,18 ect. I was inclined to show off and handle snakes more than the norm and thankfully did not get hit!! Whatever you do, remember temperment will vary from snake to snake. I also noticed Mojave and Southern Pacific on your list. Both!!! have caused death before and have an agressive venom yeild. Tho Rattlesnake venom is not considered as toxic as snakes in other parts of the world, they are known to deliver alot of venom.
