yes i had a question on getting permits in texas i live in TN now and as we all know bans this type of animal from being owned my question would be how hard is it to get permits in TX and do they plan on changing this law anytime soon we have all heard the nasty stories about states saying they will allow permits and finding out quite different later

Currently, there is no TX state permit - but there will be soon.
Right now, it's a town/county/city basis.
If the city you're moving to has a law against it, you have to live outside city limits, as long as the county doesn't have a law against it.
HOWEVER, as I understand it, that all changes early in '08.
A despicable state representative (Harvey Hildebrant) snuck a law through around due process and got it signed in that will require permits for the big 5 constrictors and all exotic venomous.
Luckily, as the permit plan stands right now, the "Recreational Controlled Exotic Snake Permit" seems to be pretty much a technicality and could be bought anywhere hunting/fishing licenses are sold for 20 bucks a year.
