What's really bad is that I can't remember??? It had to be about 1970 and I would guess that the first one that I kept for an extended period was probably a Georgia canebrake, although about the same time I spent a lot of time in the Land Between the Lakes collecting (before the houses and barns were bulldozed) and it certainly could have been a copperhead. I do remember that my first hot exotic was a puff adder.

juvenile Crotalus atrox, Agkistrodon Piscivorus and Proatheris superciliaris... they all came around the same time, but it was in fact the atrox.

Mine was a big male Crotalus atrox circa 1994....quite the noise maker and "attention grabber" he was....I wouldn't necessarily recommend this species for inexperienced keepers, but he was a fantastic animal...

I guess I'll break ranks a bit. First 'official' hot was a juvie Naja naja "polyocellata." What can I say - I'm an elapid guy.
