I see this subject fairly often , someone asking what would be a good starter . How about a non-venomous snake that is fairly fast to bite ? It might make good practice , w/o getting hurt , getting somebody else hurt , or costing a fortune in medical expenses . Or maybe I'm looking at it wrong , but it's a thought ???

People have said before that something like a coachwhip or a black racer would be good practice, but then theres people who disagree and say it doesn't work because you know it isn't venomous so you don't treat it the same no matter how much you pretend that it is.And I have to say that to me, venomous snakes act completely different than any psycho coachwhip or racer I've caught, but I think it would be a good idea to get allot of experience with aggressive non-venomous snakes first, even 4 or 5 years,to learn how to use some of the tools like hooks and tongs, and trap-boxes,and how to tube a snake, etc. and then to learn hots, get some hands on time, preferably with someone there to "show you the ropes".The more time with a mentor, the better. Unfortunately thats not always possible. MartyM
