If memory is correct, there are no state laws banning pythons. But do check with the DNR about local bylaws.

You also have to be careful when even transporting reptiles through certain states when driving. Some will require a vet health certificate, and/or, permit. I will check each state I am driving through to see what is required and make sure I have all of my paper work with me at all times.

Robert,
At the moment our state laws are very liberal. You should be able to keep your retic. You should also check the county and city regs at Mt. Pleasant (which is really a beautiful area). What sort of volunteer work are you looking for?

I'm in SC. You'll be fine with your snake. About the only two animals I can think of off the top of my head that you cant have are box turtles and aligators. SC is one of, if not the best state to live if you're a reptile keeper. That's why I live 15 minutes over the border. I left Charlotte because anything over six feet and anything hot are illegal there. Rock Hill, SC,................heck you could throw an elephant in your back yard and I dont think they'd say anything. LOL. Just kidding......
