Hello everyone, it's been a while since I posted! I have a question to anyone who my be familiar with Alabama law! I know that Alabama only allows the keeping of native/indigenous "hots", so my question is, how does that pertain to cbb or specimens that are indigenous to Alabama but aquired out of state? for example if I were to purchase a copperhead at the S.C. or Florida shows?
Thank you for your time!

I am in the process of moving to AL, so I have been in contact with them recently. When I move, I will be importing my snakes, in a sense, since I am bringing them with me from another state. As the law it written, as long as it is a snake sp and sub-sp that occurs in AL, you are fine. There entire code is available on the website. I don't have it in front of me, but I think the URL was www.aloutdoors.com if not, do a yahoo search on AL DNR, that was how I found it in the first place. Hope that helps. What part of bama are you in?

the law isn't interpreted the same by everyone.
also, what constitutes "venomous" isn't the same across the board.
they have allowed false water cobras to be sold at the monthly dixie reptile show for years and are still sold today. a few years ago, they issued 2 tickets to a man in tanner for keeping false water cobras. here is a link to the original story and the follow up where they froze the cobra for evidence: http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/forums/showthread.php?t=69546
also, there is no permit system whatsoever in the state, and no permit to keep exotic venomous has ever been issued.
