This one isn’t as hard for me as I thought.
1. Aspidelaps scutatus for much the same reason as Cro. That’s a great description.
2. Boiga d. My childhood favorite herp. I spent many hours scouring books for accounts on this specie in my younger years.
3. Crotalus adamanteaus King of rattlesnakes. I can only imagine what James Oglethorpe and some of the other Europeans thought of this snake when they first saw one? I put this snake third because I can legally work with them and currently do. The others are “wish list snakes”.
Any way stay safe.

For some reason, it just seems surprising to see many of you listing Aspidelaps right in there with some of the 'big nasties.' I have to completely agree though! I finally obtained myself a pair of A. cowlesi (or is it A. l. cowlesi? can't ever remember) and they're such great captives. Best yet, I don't fear for my life every time I have to clean a cage (read: that's not due to complacency!). They try to get me every once in a while, but it's relatively easy to avoid the pointy end. I'd like to add a pair of A. scutatus and A. lubricus a little later.
As for my top three....sheesh, tough call.
1. Oxyuranus scutellatus - big, beautiful, deadly and they know it. Though I've never gotten to deal with the mainland coastals, I have kept their Papuan cousins and they were phenomenal animals. You just have to respect a snake of such extremes. Heck, their fangs don't even fit into their mouths! It's almost like nature went overboard on the 'kill factor' of this animal.
2. Dispholidus typus - hands down the weirdest, most unique and interesting snake I've ever had the pleasure of working with. Even though the babies are a real pain in the arse to get started, they're just too....different...not to appreciate. The fact that *most* don't go out of their way to melt your insides helps. And they'll make your herp room smell like licorice! Better than cobra s*** at any rate eh?
3. Dendroaspis viridis - I only have limited experience with this mamba species, but their allure can be summed up in one word: eyegasm. Though this is of course highly subjective, a clean viridis, especially one with hints of pastel blue, is to me the most visually stunning snake on the planet.

For me, much like said in the fist post, I dreamed of having some of these animals when I was very small. Now that I have had them,......I love them even more.
1. King Cobra
2. Gaboon/Rhino
3. Gilas
Any time you have a dream when you're young, and eventually, you reach that dream,....it's a great thing.
