I am ready to breed my copperheads and would like to know if they require a cool down or hibernation and how I should go about doing it and for how long. They Broad Bands. Can somebody please help me with this? Thanks TODD

Alot of herpers say they need to be cooled down. I have never needed to do that as long as they have been housed seperately. Power feed the female for 2-3 months before mating season. Introduce the male into the female's structure for an hour a day for three days. Then leave the male for three days straight. You will have babies before you know it.

I do cool mine and know alot of others who cool them as well. I cool them at 52-55 (not over 60) for about 90days in a dark cool room. I keep them together during cooling and bring them all up at the same time. I will seperate the group when I bring um up and feed them by themselves for a few weeks then put them together. Hopefully I will have alot of BBand babies this year.
