Go to the File Library on the left of SHHS site and open the file on Burmese Python issues. We have uploaded the 2008 USGS Rodda paper and map as well as the 2005 USGS Reed paper. The other two papers were written by Dave Barker and recently published in the Bulletin of Chicago Herp Society... they are obviously a rebuttal to the Rodda paper. A rebuttal to the Reed paper is forthcoming. Expect to see more in the future as we will not only critique questionable science, but produce pertinant studies and papers ourselves... USARK is less than two weeks from being reality and a major new force for the reptile industry.
Andrew
ps- thanxs Karl for getting these papers up so quickly!

Andrew and Karl, looks like some great information and a lot of work on your part ! Very Excellent ! Looking forward to more information along this line.
My only question is why are we hiding the articles in .pdf form in the File Library ? How about posting them in full on the Experts Section, or in the Articles Section, where they will reach a whole lot more people after your post telling folks of their location is forgotten ???
After all, just how often do folks visit the file libraries ? Perhaps the webmaster can create a new section on the main page just for pending legislation issues or a title in the Articles Section for this very important information ? Heck, we could replace that durn alfred cartoon that has not changed in 9 months with a new section like that ??? Just stirring the pot some, but I am serious, this is important stuff. It needs to be fully featured on the site !
Best Regards JohnZ

I contacted authors and have their permission to link on Rexano python page
http://www.rexano.org/pythons.htm
they only have PDF versions themselves, but it would be easy to change it to text format with their permission with the right program, which I have, since I work with PDfs a lot.

John,
I understand your concern about the articles being hidden.
That's why I created their own folder for them (to make them easier to find) and asked Wyatt to post about them here. They aren't posted in entirety here due to size. One article is 6 pages, one 14 pages, and another a whopping 28 pages long! Most professional papers find their way to the web in pdf form because pdf takes up less storage room than word documents. I have the ability to convert word to pdf but not vice versa and so set it up the way I did. This way they can all be gathered together for easy access. If we put them in the articles section, they will just be separate articles.
One other issue was speed.
I wanted to get this information up and available as soon as possible rather than spend a lot of time dithering about methods to get them all in the same format, etc.
So, the decision to put them in the File Library section was mine. It really is the easiest way for us to display them for everyone to use.
Hope this helps explain.

Karl

Karl, I can understant using .pdf to reduce storage space. The important thing to do then, as each time more legislative material is added to these files, that folks be reminded here in the Experts section to go take a look at it. Hopefully, most of them will follow through.

USARK sounds great, glad I looked around this forum. I personally have monkeys that are my all time favorite but reptiles are a close second. Snakes and turtles/tortoises mostly. No hots but have no problem with anyone keeping ANY animal.
Thanks for another place to learn. Hope you make it a force that can be heard and don't forget to give details of what we can do to help to the little people ; )

Andrew, I know you will do a great job with this. That has been proven by your leadership in dealing with the NC problems with NCARK. Keep up the good fight my friend, and keep us updated here, so that when the national ARK thing is set up, that folks here can support it in force !
Best Regards JohnZ
